ORANGE BEACH, AL – What began as the brainchild of team Das Boot's own Brian McFarlin as the inaugural Mullet Toss 2007, has swiftly become a cultural phenomenon. Friends and strangers alike came from all over the southeastern United States to congregate together in an attempt to have more fun than they thought was humanly possible ... they succeeded. Not to be outdone at Mullet Toss 2008, the core group broke in a whole new gang of Mullet Toss virgins. The veterans taught these virgins many lessons, from flip-cup psyche outs and full beer starters to knowing that the only night the hot tub should be used is the first night. Team Sparkles was renamed Team VaJayJay, but the flip-cup results remained the same ... Das Boot continued to reign supreme. More importantly than this and arguably the lasting memory of the weekend was the uplifting combination of 1 1/2 oz. of Bacardi Rum and 1 1/2 oz. of Sprite elegantly poured into a champagne flute before being blessed by a tater tot that was eased in and allowed to plunge to the foundation of this newly anointed potion ... and the Tater Bomb was born. Soon to be trademarked and become the most common request at bars nationwide, we should all be sure to remember that the Tater Bomb was first concocted by a family of friends who came together on a debauchery-filled, blackout-ridden weekend in Orange Beach at the end of April 2008 ... an event best known as MT '08.
